Peter Menzies

Peter Menzies spent three decades as a working journalist and newspaper executive, most notably with the Calgary Herald where he served as its editorial page editor, editor-in-chief and, finally, publisher. Earlier he was sports editor for the Calgary Sun, worked briefly in the Parliamentary Press Gallery in Ottawa and Alberta’s Legislature Press Gallery, and won a National Newspaper Award for the objectivity of his series on the 1992 Charlottetown Accord constitutional amendments. More recently he was a regional commissioner and Vice Chair of the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission. Since then he resumed journalism and has been published in numerous journals and leading Canadian newspapers, including the Globe & Mail, National/Financial Post and Toronto Star. He also advises tech companies and has published policy papers as a Senior Fellow with the MacDonald-Laurier Institute.
