Long a cliché of comprehensive civic failure, New Orleans is emerging as an improbable guiding light for restoring a broken school system and raising kids to nation-leading performance. How? As Paul Vallas explains in City Journal, by emphasizing charter schools and opening the system to parental choice, sending kids flooding to the best schools and forcing the rest to compete. Although the Palestinian Authority enjoys an array of cultural departments and programs, A.J. Caschetta in Jewish World Review finds that all of it – art, education, literature, poetry, music, education and film – is oriented to two goals: the vilification of Jews and the destruction of Israel. Caschetta notes this is in sharp contrast to Arab and Muslim traditions, which include myriad aesthetically normal cultural works. Palestinianism, Caschetta finds, is “a very sick culture”, driven by resentment and fuelled by hate.

Spiked’s Matt Ridley details Anthony Fauci’s “public-sector version of insider trading.” Subpoenaed by the U.S. Senate to “discuss” the origin of Covid-19, the longest-serving and highest-paid U.S. bureaucrat instead invoked the Fifth Amendment (protecting against self-incrimination) some 111 times. Further, his bizarre diary (saved to a government computer) details his “nauseating narcissism and gobsmacking greed,” says Ridley, and shows he cared more about his own fame than about ailing Americans.
