After this he filed dispatches from the Lebanese-Syrian border region and investigated an attempted coup in Kazakhstan in which hundreds were killed. In February 2022 DePencier flew into Ukraine just 48 hours before Russia’s invasion began and spent the war’s most chaotic weeks reporting from in-country.
